The 3rd annual NWIR DAY Conference in Dallas, TX awards Heidi J. Ellsworth with the first-ever WORLD AWARD (Woman of Outstanding Roofing Leadership Distinction) to an audience of 300+ attendees at their 3rd annual conference. The full day of educational, mentoring, networking and recruitment sessions closed the event with the announcement of Ellsworth as the award’s inaugural recipient.

Heidi is a true entrepreneur as the sole proprietor of HJE Consulting, partner of RoofersCoffeeShop® and the founder of the National Women in Roofing (NWIR) organization. Her 25+ year career in the roofing industry has spanned the country from coast to coast as well as industry experience from her employment at Malarkey Roofing, Portland, OR; HJE Marketing with Carlisle Syntec, Carlisle, PA; to a position in sales with the 2008 industry tech startup company Eagleview Technologies with whom she advanced to C-Suite status as Executive Vice President of Marketing. In 2015 Ellsworth left Eagleview Technologies to return to her roots with HJE Consulting and a partner of RoofersCoffeeShop, a leading roofing industry website and online community that supports and advocates for roofing professionals.
In 2014, Ellsworth sought to create an organization for women, by women in the roofing industry. In 2015 Women in Roofing was created and in 2016 the organization, headed by Ellsworth and a leadership team of women in the roofing industry, became the National Women in Roofing organization, which today boasts 1300+ members nationwide, with strong connections to women in roofing organizations in Canada, the UK and New Zealand.

Ellsworth has also served on the boards of roofing organizations such as WSCRA, FRSA, MRCA and is a valuable asset to the National Roofing Association (NRCA) and the Roofing Alliance Foundation. She has been a catalyst for change in the recruitment of women and diversity in the roofing industry

Ellsworth was nominated by colleagues and peers in the roofing industry along with a field of 37 outstanding women in the roofing industry. This award represents service to the roofing industry, women working in the roofing industry, the NWIR organization, as well as personal service and volunteerism outside of the industry.

Ellsworth is a resident of Camp Sherman, OR with her husband Tim, son James and daughter Megan. She is actively involved in local events and organizations in Sisters Oregon, as well as her contributions to Habitat for Humanity, the Purple Purse along with a host of organizations nationwide.

National Women in Roofing is a volunteer-based organization that supports and advances the careers of women roofing professionals. It provides networking, mentoring, education and recruitment opportunities from the rooftop to the boardroom, for the young professional at the start of her career to the seasoned manager in the executive suite.

NWiR’s focus is on connecting and empowering women so that their training and leadership skills can help drive the overall betterment and professionalism of the roofing industry. Membership includes and welcomes men who support the inclusion of women in the roofing industry. Working together, we are bringing the industry to a new level of excellence by supporting and promoting the contributions of women as an essential component to the future of roofing.
