The second annual National Women in Roofing Day is set for Saturday, February 9, prior to the 2019 International Roofing Expo.

Denver, Colorado – National Women in Roofing (NWIR), a national organization focused on the empowerment of women within the roofing industry, has announced that Sherry Holmes will be the keynote speaker at its second annual NWIR Day. Sherry is a contractor, part-time designer and weekend DIYer. She supports and mentors women in the skilled trades and recently became an Ambassador for Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build.

Sherry’s father is celebrity contractor Mike Holmes, so construction is in her blood. She started behind the scenes on Mike’s breakout series, Holmes on Homes® and has been a crew member ever since. Up next she will appear in the new series Holmes: Next Generation.

“We are very excited to have Sherry share her story of her challenges and successes as a contractor,” said Shari Carlozzi, NWIR Chair. “Her insight and experience are sure to inspire everyone attending the event.

Sherry works to encourage women to get into the trades and quotes on her website, “If you’re thinking about getting into the trades, go for it! If it’s your passion learn as much as you can. It might be harder than you think to make your mark, but I promise you it will be worth it.”

With a theme of Building Better Together, NWIR Day provides additional educational and networking session for women in the roofing industry. It’s also an opportunity for women in the industry to be among professional, like-minded, good-spirited women from all facets of the roofing industry to gain insight and inspiration.  More information and registration is now open as part of the IRE registration process. For more information, visit the NWIR Website.

NWIR also recognizes and thanks the following Diamond event sponsors: Johns Manville, SRS Distribution, The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress, TAMKO Building Products, Inc. and Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance.
