National Women in Roofing Wheeling Council collaborated with Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc. during NRCA’s National Roofing Week to raise $2,600 for the YWCA Wheeling. COVID-19 still has the YWCA on lockdown, forcing fundraising events to be canceled and limiting donations. NWiR raffled off five gift baskets that featured Oglebay Park Resort, Meraki Hair Salon, Route 40 Lumber Jaxes, Good Mansion Wine, among others. “The YWCA Wheeling is honored that the local National Women in Roofing affiliate chose to support the efforts of local women who are suffering or struggling during the pandemic. The creative efforts of this fundraiser are already assisting the hundreds of women who seek shelter with the YWCA Wheeling each year. We are so very thankful,” stated Lori Jones, Executive Director of the YWCA Wheeling. NWiR Co-Chair Shawnda Burgess stated, “Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference. The emergency DV service need has increased during the pandemic with more women and children needing shelter and we wanted to be able to contribute to their needs while following COVID safety guidelines.” Through the newly established relationship with Kalkreuth on this event, the YWCA was able to secure a new roof for their local residence as well. “We would like to thank all those who donated items for the gift baskets, those that purchased tickets, and especially the support from Mr. John Kalkreuth for helping make this event successful,” voiced NWiR Co-Chair Stephanie Barry.
