The 20 volunteers from the group Women Roofers hosted a summer camp for girls at Isothermal Community College in Spindale, North Carolina this past summer. They were highlighted in the news as News 13 WOLS’ Persons of the Week.
“Encourage young girls to maybe have some non-traditional skills that they may not learn anywhere else,” Lori Herrick with Women Roofers said of the girl power oriented mission. “Well, the chant for this week is ‘Girls can, power strong, tools yes!'”
