Your Road Map to NWIR Engagement

Posted By: Katie Bodiford Community,

On any journey, unless you are thoroughly familiar with all the landmarks and twists and turns, a road map is going to come in handy. I'm really not sure how I survived before GPS, but I do remember having a fascination with maps and atlases. I would always trace with my finger all the interesting things to do along the way - whether it was a state park, a lake or some roadside oddity. My curious nature usually provided some entertainment on the way to my destination.

Your membership journey with National Women in Roofing is much the same. Even if you're one of our Founding Members, organizations evolve and there are always new things to see and do as you experience NWIR year after year. There are new faces to meet, new event locations to explore, new education to help develop your skill set and new ways to connect with others in the roofing industry.

But, how do you know where those points of interest are and how to access them? Well, consider our recently launched tech platforms as a bit of an online road map for you! Some common questions we've gotten this past year:

  • How to I find out if there is a local "chapter" of NWIR near me? Well, we have local groups that we call "councils" and you can use our interactive council map to see if we have a group near you. If there isn't one in close proximity, we do have a couple options. You can join our Virtual Council or... you can start a council of your own! We have all the resources you need and will guide you each step of the way.

  • How do I know what events are going on with NWIR? Our events calendar is continually updated with all the national events going on including educational offerings, regional conferences and committee meetings as well as any industry events that NWIR will be attending. So go check out our calendar HERE!

  • I feel so isolated in this industry, how can I build relationships with and learn from other women? Getting engaged takes a little effort but we've made it easier with our new NWIR Connect platform. This is our place for community and you can interact with members of your local council, find or start a Special Interest Group (SIG) to network with other members that share similar interests. Share best practices, ask industry or job-related questions. This can be your new go-to place to get answers and make friends. We hope you'll give it a try!

We also have our Mentoring Program which has recently gained steam. Fill out a quick application, tell us about yourself and we can match you with a mentor (or mentee) whom you can connect and share with. It's one of our NWIR pillars and we believe strongly those personal connections are crucial when it comes to making the most of your membership journey.

Regardless if you are a long time member or someone that has just joined, your NWIR Team wants to make sure you have the tools and resources you need to see all the sites a long the way. If you don't know where to start or just need a little guidance, our doors are always open! CLICK HERE to reach a member of our team. We're always happy to help.

Safe travels!

Katie
